Robert L. Reid, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Reid received his doctorate of medicine from Robert Woods Johnson Medical School and went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics.  His Medical Oncology Fellowship was completed at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, where he performed basic research into the molecular biology and pathogenesis of cancer.  His Hematology Fellowship was completed at Washington Cancer Institute, Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.  He is board certified in Medical Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine.  He is also a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.

Prior to FNVHO, Dr. Reid served as a Medical Officer in the Oncology Division, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, and as the Acting Deputy Director, Division of Monoclonal Antibodies, Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Reid has continued to pursue his clinical research interest and is presently a principle investigator on a research study for patients with cancer of the head and neck.

In addition to his research interest, Dr. Reid is an active member at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital servicing as President of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee and Chairman of the Cancer and Blood Committees.  As Medical Staff President, he serves on the INOVA Health Care Services Board of Trustees and the Medical Affairs Council.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Reid is married and has three children.  He stays active in his community through participation in several organizations including volunteering with the American Heart Association.
